JOSHUA TREE, CALIFORNIA

the Landing House

A modern wood pavilion seamlessly integrated into the rugged Mojave Dessert landscape, in California Joshua Tree National Park. The sheltered breezeway opens up to a concrete platform featuring a plunge pool perfect for relaxation. A second building contains a carport with solar panels, offering both shade and renewable energy. A hand-carved fire pit set within a natural boulder, along with a circular yoga platform, provide extra spaces to take in the surrounding nature.

The name of the home is inspired by a unique landing pad on the property, surrounded by boulders and offering the perfect spot for practicing yoga while taking in the ethereal desert landscape. It’s a sculptural looking circle with a metal edge that was filled with compacted desert dirt inside a geometric form. This distinctive feature reflects the home’s seamless integration with the desert environment, emphasizing both artistry and functionality within the natural setting
